Heritage 250 Years of Tradition
The Sado Valley is a characteristic plain in Portugal, where rice has been grown since 1760.
In a territory whose proximity to the Atlantic has always shaped agriculture and the landscape, where salt travels through the waterways, exceptional rice is grown and processed to create an experience of the senses for those lucky enough to taste it.
Over the centuries, successive generations of local farmers have worked in the rice paddies, using traditional and sustainable methods, to successively improve the unique characteristics of the fields and the environment that surrounds them.
The certified origin and philosophy of not mixing varieties ensures that the rice grains in our packages are cooked evenly, guaranteeing a remarkable gastronomic experience. The scent of the pine trees, the smell of the dunes, the salty sea breeze and the fertile soils create a unique imprint in each grain of rice.

THE ONE WHO GROWS RICE
0riginal and sustainable
Our real rice producers – the local farmers – know what they’re doing and have been doing it for over three centuries. In the mid-18th century, the decline of the salt and fish canning trade significantly changed the economic profile of the region.
Rice quickly became the region’s main crop and an economic engine for all the local farmers. Generation after generation, rice paddies have shaped the local landscape and way of life in an organic and sustainable evolution.
The salt-preserved soils, the moderate temperature throughout the year and the vast plains that benefit from the Atlantic air, protected from strong winds by pine trees and dunes, determine an unusual type of culture where high-quality products are grown.
Rice Farmers have evolved. There are no longer hundreds of workers weeding the fields by hand, but technological advances have not altered the centuries-old knowledge of the local farmers who have been growing rice for generations.

Ecological and Naturally good
In accordance with the latest Prodi and MBP certification rules, our Rice Farmers have chosen to produce high quality products using natural resources and natural regulation mechanisms, ecologically correct procedures that ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.
Each harvest is grown sustainably, each batch is numbered and all the grains of each variety are separated to ensure maximum quality and a unique taste experience, according to the particular specifications of each variety.
